A Great Weekend

The weekend I had been waiting for quite a while happened this weekend gone. It was The Pagan Association Camp, otherwise known as the Eric & Jean Camp. It did not disappoint. All that spending on camp equipment was well worth it & an investment too, seems almost like commitment for me & Rich, our first home, albeit a mobile canvas one. Just when you thought all my posts would be depressing at least in some part, or not if you follow my behavioral patterns in a worrying stalker boy kinda way.

Well lets start it from the beginning. Friday I went to New Deal at 12:00 like they said, I was literally only there for 2 minutes before I was told to go, under positive circumstances. I left happy & bought the last little bits we needed on the way back. I met up with Rich from work leaving all my luggage at home as 4 bags, a washing up bowl with stuff in & an umbrella seemed a bit much to carry with me on the bus, leaving me thinking have I over packed. I was all very organized, which is very out of character for me, unlike Rich who hadn't finished his packing, but it was a swift take off to pick up our friend Nicki with her stuff & then to pick up mine, which I will add was on the way between Birmingham & Dovedale. I'm boring you aren't I? Sorry.

We arrived in good time & didn't have to put up the tent in the dark. The only thing is it took me & Rich the same amount of time to put up our tent as it took for Nicki to put up her tent on her own (slight embarrassment there). I forgot how uncomfortable it was to spend your first night on a roll mat after a few years of not having to sleep on one, so the first night's sleep was sporadic. We had time though to listen to the sound effects of the night/morning though, Noggin's snoring, Nicki's coughing (she was not a well bunny), moorhens being shocked, croaking dinosaurs (or as we know them pheasants, thank you Graham) & according to Rich the sheep mooing & the cows bleating (I don't quite know what he was smoking, but it probably had tobacco in, so he didn't give it to me).

The next day was equally as good it was workshop day. The morning started out with a walk in nature trying some of the local edible plants, mmmmmmmmm ramsons & Jack-by-the-hedge, start your day with garlicy freshness. There was cord making & drumming & candle making (my candle was cool I stuck plants in it, which may or may not go up in flames when I get round showing everyone what I had made). The weather took a down turn for an hour though & we headed into the main gazebo area of the camp for some out of tune singing of songs most of us didn't know the words or the tune to, wailing cats had nothing on us. Eventually the rain had stopped but I had to leave the tent early with my trusty umbrella, to save myself from further aural assault.

The night time we spent around the camp fire, but there was no ging gang goulying. I had my first taste of a hash pipe without any tobacco in which I may add was really good. I also got drunk on a mixture of ale, wine, home made vodka (not mine) & mead. Then it was time for the evenings entertainment, drumming, I was master of the maraccas as I couldn't play a drum for toffee, & Nicki was my handmaiden. We also had the entertainment challenge of song, story or show us your bum, guess which one I did. That's right a stongry, I can't sing & I'm hopeless at stories so came out with a limerick instead, which goes a little like this;

There was a vampire called Mabel,
Whose periods were quite stable,
By the light of the moon,
She'd whip out a spoon,
And drink herself under the table.

Sorry for the grossness, but hey it stopped me from having to show my ass to the world.

The next day we visited 3 stone circles Arbor Low, where I embarrassed myself by running like a girl down the steep slopes of it's ditch. A small family stone circle which I can't remember the name of, but where people left offerings of ribbons & shredded bog roll. There was also a large rock that some people climbed up but I chickened out of. And finally the Nine Ladies. When we got back it was all hands on deck to get people ready for the open ritual, I massaged people, Rich put guacamole on Sam's face as he was being the Greenman & Aussie & Lavinnia had an amazing erection (of a maypole if you hadn't already guessed).

We packed up, & went home.

Good night & blessed be.

Oh by the way hello to everyone who was at the camp, mainly Sam, Aussie, David, Lavinnia, Bob & Grue hope to see you again some time & it was good to meet you albeit for one very short weekend.
